Responsible Sourcing Toolkit

Responsible Sourcing Toolkit

Nine modules of practical guidance, checklists, and downloadable templates to help jewellery businesses implement responsible sourcing and supply chain due diligence — step by step.

Updated 2026

The Responsible Sourcing Blue Book and Toolkit

The Responsible Sourcing Blue Book has been updated to reflect evolving expectations, emerging risks and alignment with recognised international frameworks, including OECD due diligence guidance. It establishes clear definitions, principles and good-practice expectations for responsible sourcing across the jewellery supply chain — from mine to market — while recognising the sector's diversity and fragmentation.

The accompanying Responsible Sourcing Toolkit translates these principles into practical, accessible guidance, supporting companies in:

  • Developing and strengthening responsible sourcing policies
  • Conducting proportionate supply chain due diligence
  • Identifying and managing risks related to human rights, labour, governance and product integrity
  • Communicating sourcing commitments with greater clarity and credibility

Together, the Blue Book and Toolkit form the foundation of CIBJO's framework for responsible sourcing and supply chain management.

Part of the CIBJO ESG Framework

The Blue Book and Toolkit sit alongside the ESG & Sustainability Reference Guide, ESG Wheel, Double Materiality Assessment, and Measurement Guidelines — all freely available from CIBJO.

Toolkit: Nine Modules

Each toolkit module corresponds to a step in your responsible sourcing journey. Although there is a logical sequence to these steps, you do not necessarily need to complete them in strict order - the early steps can be approached in parallel, and you might wish to focus first on the areas most relevant to your operations and risk profile.
