Transparency and ethically responsible practices in the handing and sale of diamonds, coloured gemstones, pearls and corals are essential in maintaining the confidence of consumers in jewellery products and the jewellery industry itself.

CIBJO’s Do’s & Don’ts, developed by The World Jewellery Confderation, is a simplified guide to assist those selling diamonds, coloured gemstones, corals, pearls and/or any related artificial products, in understanding the obligations they have towards their customers, as well as recommended supplier interactions.

It includes lists and tables that itemise recommended practices, presented in a simple and an easy-to-understand format.

The guide is not intended to not replace the comprehensive standards and definitions described in the individual CIBJO Blue Books for diamond, coloured gemstones, coral, pearl, gemmological laboratories, precious metals and responsible sourcing, which members of the jewellery industry are also encouraged to download and use as references.
