OCTOBER 5, 2023 In its session on October 5, the final day of the 2023 CIBJO Congress, the Laboratory-Grown Diamond Committee focused on the implementation of ESG (environment, sustainability and good governance) in the laboratory-grown diamond sector.

CIBJO’s Coral Commission has reinforced its differentiation of the definition of precious coral from reef coral, in order to more clearly identify the precious coral used for jewellery.

Reporting in its activities during the third day of the 2023 CIBJO Congress on October 5, Gemmological Commission detailed the operation of a working group it is leading to consider amendments to definitions of gemstone varietal names, which should reduce risks of inconsistencies by laboratories and help to protect consumer confidence.
