2025 CIBJO Congress to take place
under the patronage of the President of France
SEPTEMBER 5, 2025
The Élysée Palace, the official seat of French head of state, has confirmed that the 2025 CIBJO Congress of the World Jewellery Confederation, which is scheduled to take place in Paris from October 27 to October 29, 2025, will be under the official patronage of Emmanuel Macron, the President of the Republic of France.
The agreement of the French President to be the official patron signifies that this year’s CIBJO Congress aligns with the values, interests and priorities of the French state. Also of significance is that the 2025 CIBJO Congress will mark the start of Centenary Year of the World Jewellery Confederation, which was founded Paris, originally as a pan-European association in 1926. CIBJO was transformed into a worldwide confederation in 1961.
The host of this year’s congress is the Union Française de la Bijouterie, Joaillerie, Orfèvrerie, des Pierres & des Perles (UFBJOP), which brings together all the parties involved in the French jewellery, goldsmith, precious stone and pearl industry.
CIBJO Congresses serve as the gathering place for the World Jewellery Confederation’s Assembly of Delegates, and also are the venue for the annual meetings of CIBJO’s sectoral commissions, where amendments can be introduced to the organisation’s definitive directories of international industry standards for diamonds, coloured stones, pearls, gem labs, precious metals, coral and responsible sourcing, known as the Blue Books.
The CIBJO Congress is also where are reported upon the programmes of World Jewellery Confederation Education Foundation (WJCEF), as well as activities related to CIBJO’s ongoing cooperation with the United Nations and its development programme.
